Just as strange, eerie, and haunting as you expect Jeff VanderMeer's work to be. I think I would have benefited from reading Borne first, but this was a solid peek into that world. I never finish one of VanderMeer's books without feeling the atrocities that we humans inflict on the natural world in a deep and acute way. This one was no different.
Graphic: Animal cruelty
Moderate: War
