This book is a trip. It threw me for a HUGE loop. This book had me hooked in pretty well and I'm glad that I read it. This is one of those books that takes you on a emotional roller coaster and just when you think you level out....BLAM, the floor drops out from under you.

The characters in this book felt very fluid and realistic. This is one of the few books where there is a trove of characters and you're interested in them ALL. Literally from the maid all the way to the King. Everyone has your attention and everyone has an impact one way or the other. There are no throw-away characters in this book.

I also hate books that use grievous acts as a way to pull emotions. I will tell you that there is a game of thrones moment in here where you're like... (F**K NO! C'mon! Not *****!!!!! )

Also, this book is 1. a gender bender and 2. about women empowerment. With that said, this isn't something that's done as a hook. It is done with a very distinct reason and you'll understand why if you read this. With that said, NONE of the women in this book should be taken lightly. EVER. There's a reason that in the game of Chess the game is lost when the King goes down, but the Queen is still the most powerful piece.
