I absolutely devoured this book. From the first chapter I was hooked. The world building is sharp and layered, the atmosphere dark without being overwhelming, and the magic system works brilliantly within the story. The plot is fast paced but still gives space for the characters to grow. Oraya is one of the most compelling protagonists I’ve read in this genre. She is vulnerable and aware of her limits but she is also clever, resourceful and determined. Watching her navigate a world where she is always at a disadvantage kept me on edge the whole time.

The romance is slow burn and believable. It never overshadows the main storyline but instead deepens it. I cared about what happened between the characters because it felt earned rather than forced. The action scenes are tense and well written and the political undercurrents keep the stakes high throughout.

This is exactly the kind of book that makes me stay up far too late reading. It gave me everything I want in a fantasy romance: a dangerous setting, a heroine I could root for, twists that land, and a story that never let up.

Oraya is one of the best female characters I've read about.

Um ok. Damn. This was kind of fucking awesome, I started it out being super confused, but also pleasantly invested in this story - the premise was a little confusing at first but it was helpfully separated into distinct parts which made it much easier. I feel like all fantasy’s start a little confuddled because you’re trying to create a whole new world in your head

However I really enjoyed this - I was expecting this to be a standalone HEA with no aftershocks so I was bumbling away through this book without a care in the world, enjoying the plot and the romance thickening when BOOM the last 5 % hit me like a ton of fucking BRICKS

The plot twist?!? Like it genuinely had me gasping and I was so fucking betrayed by raihn, he was doing so well and the whole blood sharing and caring thing pulled at my little heart strings but damn 💔💔😭 he really flipped a switch. He still loves her in his heart tho which is what brakes my heart. I really do hope that they get their happy ending after 5 books because their relationship during the trials is so beautiful to read. And raihns sacrifice, then orayas sacrifice 😭 my heart couldn’t take it

I’m so excited to continue this series but god am I disappointed in myself because I have to WAIT for these books to come out, I’m going to be so deprived  I’m excited to see what we find out about oraya too

But this book really impressed me, and it genuinely shocked me so congrats to the author. Twas a great read

I will be reading her other series after reading the only books of this series that is out

This book… It’s so good. The trials and emotional ride had me hooked. I fell in love with the characters. The world building in this series is absolutely amazing and the characters are so well-written. The romance is fantastic and I cannot believe the ending! I had to stop and stare at the book for a minute after that! I’m so excited to start the next in this series.

Trying to pick it back up was impossible. It just sucks. Characters suck, boring plot, and I hate vampires. the writnig is awful.
