Ik vond dit boek iets minder dan het vorige deel. Wellicht komt dit doordat het één verhaal is wat over twee boeken wordt vertaald. Daardoor is het wel te raden wat er in dit boek gaat gebeuren.
Verder vond ik het opnieuw leuk om te zien

hoe Maddie al deze zaken zelf heeft af weten te handelen

. Ik was eerlijk gezegd ook vergeten waar Will eigenlijk was gebleven.
Ook was het leuk om de Broederband wat beter te leren kennen, en hopelijk kan ik die boeken ook snel lezen.
Daarnaast vond ik Arnaut en Gilan een leuke combinatie, omdat je ze hiervoor eigenlijk nooit samen hebt gezien

, en was het indrukwekkend hoe Cassandra de leiding nam over de verdediging van de toren

Another standard Flanagan romp around the world of Araluen. As usual, the Rangers are smart, the Skanadians are fierce, and much coffee is drunk.

While this book serves as a nice crossover between the worlds of the Rangers and the Brotherband, at its heart is a long siege. As with most sieges, it's slow. This book is a little more plodding than most of his stuff, but the Mary Sues win in the end and you feel good about them doing so.

So so good! Reread the previous one because I remembered that was a cliffhanger, and this one didn't disappoint! I truly love these characters, every single one of them. I can read this series over and over again ☺️
