A marriage in trouble. A dark past. Social class differences and a French mademoiselle??? Amazing!

This is my first Grace Callaway book. I didn't like how the hero has relations with a harlot TWICE in the book, even though the harlot turns out to be his wife all along. The narrator wasn't my favorite so that may have influenced how I felt about the lack of chemistry/angst. I will try another book as I know sometimes it takes a few books to get the feel of a new to me author.

3.5 stars. This was a bit darker than I expected, though i'm not certain why I was expecting a fun romp. This was an angsty good time that went 0 to smut in about 4 pages.

Interesting read. Didn't expect the detailed love scenes though.

3.5 stars? I wasn't so caught up in this, Nicholas left me a bit cold although I liked Helena and I could buy into the reasons around their lack of communication/sharing etc; the "cheating" and the butt play(!) didn't bother me in the slightest. Sometimes though I get a bit exhausted with all the sex scenes -- if they're not doing it they're having detailed fantasies about doing it, and in this book they had sex before we'd seen them spend any time together, and then they didn't spend any time together immediately afterwards, which is kind of a strange way to begin? but it did a good job of setting up characters from the subsequent books!
