😘 but includes racial epithets against Black people and a boring white man's digression about rap music and yet absent of anyone that doesn't identify as white. This is expected (and I would say done purposefully) considering the characters and their upbringings in informally racially segregrated neighborhoods with implicit racism in the culture, as demonstrated by the youth's interactions with adults and by the way the young regurgitate that culture. Otherwise, beautifully written Boston noir that fully draws out the author's vision of an Irish-American neighborhood and its main players.
Mwah, definitely a top ten of the year.
