Sekyiamah does an excellent job portraying the vastly different experiences of African and African Diaspora women in their journeys related to sex & sexuality. This book brings in so many different voices, representing different countries, generations, religions, and sexualities. I loved getting to read so many different womens’ stories.
Although I wish each woman’s story was longer, I understand that the book’s purpose was to highlight many different stories, not to dig deep into just a few.

I don’t have the words to review this exceptional (in a good and bad way) collection. While some chapters were written better than others (with regards to the flow of the story and editing), this collection of essays is necessary. Its the kind of collection that you just have to discuss with other readers. I just finished a virtual discussion with some readers and my heart feels full. I want to have another discussion when the US edition comes out - definitely!

A very important book to read that shines a light in dark places. It was a collection of essays that honestly were hard to read at times due to the content. It was also healing to hear African women share their personal stories related to sex and how they dealt with trauma in their lives and overcame it or were still on their healing journey. This was thought provoking and insightful.

I loved it. I love the different stories, I like how none of the stories have a final ending, that these women's sex/romance/family lives are still ongoing. I like that the stories kinda show women from different economic backgrounds.
