one thing about me is i LOVE the magic treehouse books. they affected me on a spiritual level in my youth. my qualms are that they are sometimes too vague to be informative and one must be mindful to avoid certain books if one does not want to encounter academic cultural appropriation. please see me for a work-in-progress zine of my ratings of every single magic treehouse book.
I listened to this audiobook with my 10 year old daughter and my 6 year old grandson. All three of us absolutely loved it. There was enough story to keep my 10 year old interested, but my 6 year old was fully involved, asking questions, guessing what was going to happen before it did. The author read the stories and does it very well. Each story last about 50 minutes and is divided into 10 chapters. The entire audiobook has 8 of those books in it. I highly recommend it for both boys and girls in the 5 to 12 year old age group. The stories involve problem solving mysteries which stretch over several adventures in the books.
We listened to these books on the way to preschool and back. My five-year-old protested with the first book, insisting that he's not really into dinosaurs, but when I read him the titles of the other books, he was willing to suffer through the first book to get to knights, mummies, and pirates. These books are perfect for his age, because they're predictable and repetitive, but exciting at the same time. We also found the Magic Tree House website, and Jaren has had fun designing his own Magic Tree House, with piles and piles of books and medallions everywhere. We've already requested the next set of eight books at the library!
if you didn't know this book series did u have a childhood

This book review is going to be a little different. I’m not going to focus as much on the books themselves, but on my 3 year olds interest in them.
I recently renewed my library card, and saw The Magic Tree House audiobooks, so I decided to check them out for Emmett to listen to. I didn’t realize at the time how much he would love these stories. When I put this on, he would actually come over and either sit in my lap, or ask to breastfeed while he listens to them. He asked questions about what the characters where doing and started repeating what they were saying. I could tell that he was genuinely paying attention to the story. Emmett loved Jack. He kept asking about Jack and what he was doing. He didn’t care as much about Annie, but he absolutely loved Jack’s character.
I’m now going to have to buy the physical copies of these books so he can look at the pictures while we listen along, but I know this series is going to be well loved for years. I remember reading these books when I was a kid, so it’s actually interesting to go back now and listen to them. It definitely gives me Doctor Who vibes. Anyone else think so? I mean a tree house that can travel through time and space?
I highly encourage you to try audiobooks for your child! I didn’t think he would love them only being three, but he loves The Magic Tree House books and looks forward to listening to them. I love that he is getting into chapter books where he will sit and listen for a long period of time, and now it’s a different voice than just me reading to him. I tried a couple of other shorter audiobooks; however, these seem to be his favorite.
