this was a reread. i loved it just as much as the first time. i know vonnegut didn’t count this as a masterpiece but i think the way that he describes the impact of art is so powerful. i really loved hearing all of the plots of trout’s stories as well.

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I liked this book less than the rest of Vonnegut's, or such time has passed since my Vonnegut phase that I wouldn't like others either anymore. Regardless, it didn't click: the ratio of insight to connecting narrative seemed off, such that the book felt like a disjointed series of one-liners.

This book just made me feel like an idiot the whole time I was reading it. The worst Vonnegut book I have read to date, and I didn't even like his other stuff very much...

this book delighted my short attention span – fun read and too random at times! :)

By the time I finished reading this book I found myself developing a strong (but sane) intellectual crush on Kurt Vonnegut. That is how good this book is.
I enjoyed every bit of Breakfast of Champions, laughed out loud a couple dozen times, felt compassion for the very lovable characters and absolutely loved the story itself. I am not keen on the concept of "metafiction" but this one is clearly a winner.

Quite possibly the weirdest book I have ever read.
