Notably, the series didn't shy away from portraying the messy aspects of life—failures, mistakes, and the uncertainty of navigating relationships. It taught me that growth often comes from acknowledging these complexities and learning from them, much like the characters in the story. It reminded me of the importance of empathy, even in the face of conflicting ideologies.
What truly captured my attention throughout the series was the intricate bond between the characters and their dragons. From the tentative beginnings to the unbreakable ties that evolved over time, I was fascinated by how emotions were woven into this connection, adding layers of depth and authenticity to the narrative.
One aspect that could have enhanced the reading experience for me personally is a more detailed exploration of certain plot threads, especially regarding the fate of certain characters and unresolved conflicts. However, this also leaves room for reader interpretation and imagination.

What a stunning conclusion to a brilliant trilogy. This is truly one of the best YA fantasy series out there, even if you’re not a YA fan I highly recommend giving it a try.
Reading the author’s bio and seeing she studied political theory explained her genius political plot lines and twists. It was done with such nuance, complexity, and thought that it felt like something that could happen in the real world (if there were dragons in the real world of course). She doesn’t rely on deus ex machina or any other annoying devices to propel the plot forward, plans don’t ever go 100% the way they were planned, and it makes it all the more believable.
Intelligence of the plot aside, this book made me so emotional, I actually cried (which never happens to me with fantasy). I love the bit of romance we get in this book also, it didn’t overtake the plot but it perfectly rounded it out. The character development remains unmatched, and while the author does not shy away from brutality, it’s never done in a way that doesn’t make sense for the character committing the brutal acts. She also doesn’t draw out goriness just for the sake of it. My only complaint is that I don’t feel like Delo’s POV added a lot but it’s very minor in the scope of the book.
I couldn’t put this book down and the ending didn’t disappoint. Honestly I don’t think I’ll be able to read any YA fantasy for a while after this, nothing will compare.

I put off reading this one because I knew it was the end and I really just didn’t want to say goodbye to the Aurelian Cycle. But wow! This. This is how you end a trilogy! I cried so much and had to take a few breaks for emotional reasons, but I truly loved this world of dragons.

Once I picked it up, I just couldn't put it down. This was such a beautifully written conclusion to the story, so well thought-out. The endings weren't rushed to just be happy and carefree but stayed true to the character's core which I truly appreciate. This book devasted me as much as it reminded how important ideals and faith in a better future is, I think it's something everyone needs nowadays. Needs to give a shout-out to Annie who puts the badass girl stereotype to shame by just being one of the best written character I've encountered in a long time, she's going on a shrine alongside my favorites female characters, as does Aela of course. This cycle will stick by me, as being a wild ride from beginning to end and never faltering in quality.

he joys of starting a series when the finale is out. "Furysong" closes out the Aurelian Cycle by Rosaria Munda after that rough ending of the second book.
Lee got the worst family pop in, Annie is figuring out which way to roll after a coup, and Griff and Delo are dealing with some THINGS. While on group has fought off their captors the city of Callipolis starts regressing to the old Dragonlord rules. With just a little bit of revenge killings and sadistic behavior. But the only way out is through, and not without some blood first.
I enjoyed the ride, despite the emotional damage THAT caused. Glad some people finally got clipped though. Stop letting crazy people do terrible things when you literally have a dragon.
Narrated by Candice Moll, Christian Coulson, Aidan Kelly, Anthony Mark Barrow, and Steve West. Thanks y'all to giving voice to a great cast and conveying the story with impact.

Okay, but why are more people not talking about this trilogy? I feel like it can be so difficult to pace YA fantasy trilogies, but Rosaria Munda did an excellent job with this one. All three books felt so important and contributed to the overall story. It doesn't suffer from second book syndrome, and ends with an explosive third book you'll have a hard time putting down!
I think part of what makes this series so great is the integration of well-rounded characters to an intricate, detailed fantastical world. Yes, there were things that I forgot from the first book to this one, but it didn't matter. I was still just as engrossed in the story. Annie and Lee are still my favorite points of view, but we get some additional ones from the second book that really help round out the complete story that's happening.
This series is also unique in that it starts off in the aftermath of a revolution, with a soceity trying to figure out how to move forward. Of course, you run the danger of barging in and taking control when the new government is just being built; someone you didn't want in control in the first place. There is such an interesting discussion of power and government and who gets a say in the control of that government. I think I would re-read the series again just for that.
All in all, if you love dragons, you love great characers, and you love intricate world building, you should definitely pick this series up! You won't be disappointed.
