Bonds of Justice is the 8th book in Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series. Max the New York cop and Sophie, a J class Psy end up meeting while working on a case dealing with a serial killer named Booner. I liked the beginning of the story and the end of the story but everything after Booner breaks out of custody is a hot mess. It was just messy for me.

Wooo, I've reached one of my favourite books in the series!
We are introduced to a new character of a Psy designation we only peripherally know about, the J-Psy! The Justice Psy (an excellent concept) are another designation that has never really separated themselves fully from the other races, but unlike M-Psy, they, including our protag Sophia, experience the darkest of hells that humanity has to offer. It puts Sophia in a unique position, perhaps even more than Sasha, for being someone who accepts both the good and the bad in the Net. I'll say no more on this topic, but aaahhhh!! So good.
Sophia and Max's story is great, with fun dynamics between them. And Kaleb, hello, I see you are making yourself more and more intriguing to the readers!
There are also some big movements plot-wise, and now Nikita has more page time! She is definitely a woman with secrets, and secrets on top of secrets. Sasha has a scary mother. I'll leave it at that. I love the complexity of Nikita's character.
This book has more focus on enforcement: cops, J-Psy, criminals, and cases. There is a little bit of mystery as the characters work on the case, which is a nice change of pace! I love the hints of change we're seeing in the Psy and the PsyNet. Things are certainly still building up to a crescendo.
