Tom Sawyer is a monster! Selfish, despicable, cruel! Playing with people for his own amusement!
Brilliant, yet so difficult and complex. You have to read George Saunders introduction!! He explains the legacy of this novel, what the characters Huck and Tom represent, and the complexities of Twain (was he racist or was he not?) SO WELL. I enjoyed listening to the audio while following along with the book. I felt I could understand the dialects and vocabulary best that way.
I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is hilarious, and beautifully written. It is an entertaining and touching story about a boy who is so independent and capable.
I haven't read Tom Sawyer yet, so you definitely don't have to read it first to enjoy Huck Finn. (Although of course I will be reading it in the future, because Mark Twain is an amazing writer.)

Y’all I’m gonna be so real I got 46% of the way through, skipped to the end, and then decided it wasn’t worth it…
It was a great book, I love the last paragraph the most though. The characters have a good sense of humor. Tom though is an interesting character and wants adventure.
