This was a lovely view into the lives of young adults learning about themselves while living in Japan. The text having both English and Japanese, Korean, etc. in the text box was a great addition to the story to share what was really being said, but translated.
The feeling of others and outsiders felt very relatable and the struggles each of the characters faced were realistic and grounded.

I really wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and felt a little disconnected at times when the story telling would bounce between characters.
I sometimes couldn't tell which character we were focused on at times or I just got confused. I enjoyed the premise of the story that they all went to Japan looking for some important change in their lives. The bouncing between languages and "accents" i found hard to read which caused me to not feel as deeply.
There were some extremely sweet and heartfelt moments, beautiful illustrations, very vulnerable moments, etc. Those were the highlights of the book but the rest missed the mark for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace? I would still rate this a 3.25 ✨️

I really enjoyed this graphic novel, the art was so cute and the story was really sweet, and it was hard not to fall in love with the characters.
