this book is gorgeous, both in storytelling and art. the characters are crafted so meticulously, and the story truly flows from who they are and what they want. it’s warm and organic and absolutely worth a read.

Holy shit this was incredible 😭

The way the author depicted language and culture through this project - GENIUS.

I felt every emotion.

A wonderful graphic novel! Beautiful and funny art, an engrossing story, fantastic characters...I might just have to buy this. Definitely teared up a few times.

I loved this and I want to read it again immediately.

The main characters in the book are united by their time in Japan and their Asian heritage, but they are very different in many ways. I appreciated the exploration of communication between people from different cultures, including the differences in their honesty and forthrightness.

The inclusion of each character's backstory and point-of-view chapters adds a lot of dynamic and depth to each character, including the neighbor lady!

Such a fun and enjoyable read. Loved each characters story and definitely want more.

This story follows three girls living in Japan, all there to escape something or find something, or maybe they're doing both. Readers will relate to the characters quest for self discovery and their need for belonging. Those who have been to Japan will appreciate the subtle easter eggs in the the background, names of stores, etc.
