[2/5 ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆] “I’d take any moment with her, no matter how quick or fleeting, because I didn’t know how many we had left.” description

“The problem isn’t the assets, Mrs. Davenport,” Cole said. “It’s you. He doesn’t want to let you go, and unless you can convince him otherwise, it’s going to be a long fight.”

First and foremost, this book exemplified the deadly sin the most. With Wrath and Pride, it wasn’t as overt as Greed. While I find it poetic to read the subliminal messages of the deadly sins, I did enjoy the full display of greed shown in Dominic.
When it came to greed, it shifted from the zeroes in his bank account to the woman who made it possible in obsessively obvious ways.

Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with Dominic’s character very much. I appreciated the backstory, the flashbacks, and getting to know the core fears that drove him. However, I felt like he didn’t have a tangible personality like the prior MMC’s Ana Huang wrote in this series. His character development happened slowly then all at once, because he realized what Alessandra leaving really meant to him.

I am really proud of Alessandra for leaving, and even coming back, on her own terms.

Do I think Dominic really did enough to show he would be different? No.
Do I understand why it was enough for Alé to go back to her husband? Yes.

One thing I love about Ana Huang’s writing is her analogies. It gives more depth to her characters, and this book severely lacked that. My other love for Ana’s books is the interconnection of her characters. Continuing to see Vivian + Dante’s love and life progress made me more emotional than I thought! I’m also really looking forward to reading King of Sloth and how Alessandra and Dominic will be portrayed, as the first two books it was set up in detail how she was unhappy.

My favorite part about this book was the appearance of Dominic’s brother, Roman. I am so excited for King of Lust next year because of what we saw from him in this book!

I needed more grovelling and the sus employer was such a loose end like where are the ANSWERS

Filled with empty promises, this book left me wanting more but delivering less.

Yeah hes just a douchbag i cant lie. It was Ana’s normal plot, but with a guy who realized he fucked up AFTER his wife served divorce papers? Nah, shit is weird. It was ok, not great though. Least favorite King book so far.
