YES I RE-RE-RE READ THIS BOOK EVERYTIME I GOT THE CHANCE.
⤿ Rating: ★★★★★
I recently indulged in the audiobook of this captivating tale and found myself utterly enchanted by the narrative. The narrators delivered an exceptional performance, skillfully breathing life into this poignant second-chance romance filled with tension and emotional depth. “King of Greed” explores the profound connection between two individuals who, despite their deep love for one another, have drifted apart and lost their way. While the story revolves around a marriage in turmoil, which may not resonate with every reader, it surprisingly struck a chord with me. Although Ale and Dom’s relationship is heightened for dramatic effect, many elements of their journey will resonate with those who have experienced the complexities of long-term partnerships. As you immerse yourself in their world, you will encounter a whirlwind of angst and frustration, juxtaposed with the undeniable love that binds these two soulmates. This narrative has truly captured my heart and continues to linger in my thoughts long after the final chapter.
➸ Alessandra Davenport:
Alessandra Davenport is a character who truly captivates, especially in the realm of billionaire romance. There’s something incredibly refreshing about a strong woman who stands her ground, and Alessandra embodies that spirit beautifully. Her journey is marked by a pivotal moment of realization, where her dissatisfaction reaches a tipping point, and she refuses to accept anything less than what she deserves. The delightful quirk of her pressing flowers adds an endearing touch to her character, making her not just relatable but also charmingly unique. Throughout the narrative, I found myself cheering her on, thinking, “Make him earn it, girl!” To her credit, she certainly does—she makes him work for her affection throughout the entire book, showcasing a level of resilience that I admire immensely. I must admit, had I been in her shoes, I might have crumbled under the pressure much sooner. This speaks volumes about her strength and determination. Ultimately, I adored her character; she possesses a fierce energy that could easily sweep anyone off their feet.
➸ Dominic Davenport:
Dominic Davenport has swiftly become my latest literary obsession, and it’s easy to see why. Initially, like many readers, I found myself exclaiming, “Like c’mon man, pay attention to your wife!” as I navigated through the early chapters. However, as the narrative unfolds and we gradually uncover the layers of his past, the story of how he and Alessandra came together begins to take shape. I started to grasp the motivations behind his actions, yet I couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting him to prioritize his wife more. The moments when he finally does focus on her, especially when jealousy ignites within him, are nothing short of electrifying. Ana Huang has a remarkable talent for crafting a possessive male main character, and Dominic’s obsession with Alessandra is both captivating and relatable. It’s a fascinating dynamic that leaves me equally enamored with his fervent devotion as I am with the intricate storytelling.
This reflection eloquently delves into the intricate emotional landscape and character evolution present in King of Greed by Ana Huang. The protagonists, Dominic and Alessandra, are portrayed as robust, multifaceted individuals, and Huang masterfully illustrates how their most admirable qualities can morph into significant vulnerabilities when they become unbalanced. Dominic’s fierce ambition and unwavering drive for success are commendable traits; however, they gradually eclipse the emotional needs that underpin his marriage. On the other hand, Alessandra’s unwavering loyalty and selflessness, while commendable, lead her to neglect her own identity and personal happiness. What is particularly striking in Huang’s narrative is her exploration of the notion that love, while vital, is insufficient on its own; healthy relationships demand a delicate equilibrium of communication and self-awareness. Their separation does not stem from a deficiency of love but rather from the detrimental ways in which they articulated their values. As the narrative unfolds, Dominic is compelled to reevaluate what truly holds significance, discovering that success devoid of love and meaningful connections is ultimately unfulfilling. Concurrently, Alessandra embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery, recognizing that her loyalty and kindness must also be directed inward. This transformative journey for both characters not only enhances the satisfaction of their eventual reconciliation but also imparts a poignant message: that personal growth, both individually and as a couple, is indispensable for nurturing enduring love.
The theme of second chance romance resonates deeply, as relationships often navigate through tumultuous waters. Dom and Ale’s connection serves as a poignant illustration of how two individuals, seemingly destined for one another, can nonetheless find themselves drifting apart. Witnessing the disintegration of their marriage was a heart-wrenching experience, yet their quest to rediscover each other was nothing short of enchanting, making every moment of turmoil worthwhile. This narrative unfolds like an emotional roller-coaster, masterfully portraying the complexities and challenges faced by a couple in crisis. I found myself moved to tears on several occasions, culminating in a heartfelt cry towards the conclusion—rest assured, these were tears of joy.
I lovee The Flashbacks. This narrative unfolds as a poignant second chance romance, interwoven with enchanting flashbacks that reveal the tender beginnings of Dom and Ale’s love story. Their initial encounter took place during their college years, where Ale served as Dom’s English tutor. Despite their contrasting personalities, an undeniable chemistry sparked between them, leading to a whirlwind romance that was both intense and heartwarming. The purity of their affection and their unwavering faith in one another radiated a sense of wholesomeness that is truly captivating. It is abundantly clear that their connection transcends the ordinary; they are, without a doubt, soulmates destined to be together.
I miss them so muchh…♥
➸ I found myself perplexed by the lower ratings this book received, prompting me to delve into several reviews. Many readers expressed dissatisfaction with Dom’s perceived lack of effort to prove himself, as well as their discomfort with the couple’s continued intimacy despite their separation. While I can certainly appreciate their perspective, I believe that relationships are inherently complex, often eliciting a myriad of responses to challenging circumstances. Given Dom’s tumultuous past and his aspirations, it became evident that his goals were misaligned with Alessandra’s. It was only through her departure that he began to reassess his priorities. However, breaking old habits is no easy feat, which is why it takes nearly the entirety of the narrative for him to grasp the reasons behind her leaving and to understand the necessary changes he must embrace to win her back. Their separation did not diminish their love or attraction; after a decade of marriage, their instinct was to seek solace in one another. Both characters yearned to salvage their relationship but were at a loss for how to proceed. Thus, the essence of this book lies in their journey to forge a new path that fosters happiness for both, navigating the intricate dance of love, regret, and reconciliation.

I hated the effect he had on me. I hated how my eyes always went to him in a room full of people and how I couldn’t stop thinking about him no matter how hard I tried. Most of all, I hated how I couldn’t hate him, not even a little bit. No matter how many times he broke my heart, there would always be a piece that belonged to him.

If I did die, I would do so happily because I was exactly where I belonged: with her.

This book was so sweet! The story between Dominic and Alessandra was beautiful! I was crying halfway through to the end. I didn't think I would love the second chance romance arc but she did it so well I read it all in one setting. It was truly a beautiful love story and they became one of my favorite couples in the series. I like how each book in this series follows carefully to its theme and how all the stories are different from each other.
I honestly didn’t even bother finishing reading it.

This was a different twist to a classic romance story. I enjoyed learning more about different characters that had been present in the series but not the main focus.
I read this series in the order my heart dictates and decided that this was the next one just because Alessandra is Brazilian. Well, just like in King of Envy, I liked the characters and the couple, and I felt that the author took the time to research some things about Brazil, instead of just resorting to stereotypes, but Roman caught my attention more than anything else and that is not a positive point for the book.

Sin más, para distraerse un rato genial, pero para mi el más flojo de momento de la saga.
I haven't been this excited for a book since king of wrath but it was a bit anti climactic for me .
dominic changed his life style and reevaluated his priorities for Alessandra which is amazing but i wouldn't call what he did grovelling , at least not like it was advertised but I loved how he immidiately snapped out of it an did a 180° change of character for her.
Alessandra annoyed me with how she handled things, pushing Dominic away yet still sleeping with him at every turn despite regretting it every time and saying it'll never happen again and giving him false hope and mixed signals , like girl if you were strong and brave enough to leave a 10year marriage because he was emotionally and physically absent, then pull through.
I loved their flashbacks and adored their young puppy love
The twisted series couples is a bit redundant at this point i wish we can just be over with it and focus on the current group
.
Im so intrigued by dom's brother roman and i wish we can see more of him or even him getting a book
