An ok book. Definitely meant for younger readers. My 3rd grade self would probably have given this a 3.

My final thoughts:
As our introduction is done we meet the three young protagonists of a new series, Sherlock, Lupin and Me, or as Goodreads listed as “Sherlock, Lupin and I”. I’ll go by what the book says.
Our narrator is Irene Adler. This young lady comes from Paris with her mother to a small town of Saint-Malo as per her father’s insistence would make a lovely locale for summer holidays. On her adventure to escape the demands of her mother we meet Sherlock who also goes by William, and later he introduces us to Arsène Lupin, or better known as Lupin.

After a few days of Irene’s arrival the trio find a dead man on the beach and go on their grand mystery tour of interrogating and investigating the who, what and whys of The Man with Three Names. Later solving the big mystery as well as figuring out a few other things along the way.

Needless to say I was slightly thrown off by the narrator’s opening sentence of being Sherlock’s first girlfriend. Why would I be confused you ask, well, between the awkward near-moments between Irene and Lupin, and the closeness of Sherlock and Irene shared there was never one moment that could officiate any of them to be in a relationship or even just hints of becoming a couple. I was a little disappointed really, since I thought for sure the way Lupin always seemed gobsmacked around Irene that they would’ve been the ideal couple.

However, I could be easily misunderstanding the story and that really the reason there is a series is because, perhaps, the second book will reveal a relationship or the spark of one. Right now the three are just a group of friends who enjoy each others quick witticism and the ability to one-up the efforts of making a joke, or later on training techniques.

I will award this book 3.5 stars. I do, however, look forward to the release of the second book in the future.
