I was surprised that I liked this book so much! I used to hate poetry in school, but I wanted to start reading some so I decided to pick this one up and see if it made me interested in poetry if I learned (or remembered) more about how poetry is written ect ect. And well it did, so I guess my next move is to pick up a poetry collection!

i don't like poetry and english isn't my first language, so i don't know why i ever thought this could be a good idea. i thought it'd be useful to understand songs, but it wasn't, at least i didn't really feel like it was engaging enough. i give books fifty pages to entertain me and this one just didn't cut it. maybe some other time, when i actually know how to read poetry in spanish first

Adequate. Although I wanted something a little more indepth, I think it served well enough to assist in understanding poetry more than I did previously.

If, like me, you've struggled to "get" poetry, this is a great place to start to figure it out. The author figured out how to make something dry and academic light and interesting. No small feat, that.
