Rachel Cohn's books (as well as a few other YA authors') are my version of beach reading - the characters are compelling and interesting, figuring themselves out and breaking some rules, they're right on the border between believable and crazy, and there's always a little romance. I have no idea why this one shows her with a surfboard, since she never surfs in the entire book. Anyway, 4 stars because it's fun, not because it's Great Literature. Lots of YA appeal but there is that equally YA sex, language and drug use - nothing in extreme but it's either there or strongly hinted at.

Loved it! I love when an author can show the growth of their main character so poignantly. The message being sent is one that young women should take to heart. CC starts out the book wanting to get Shrimp back, but with growth she realizes that she is young and has her own future to consider and even with the differences she has with her family she knows that they always have her back. It's a great message.

This was a really good book. It was a lot of fun, There were quite a few really funny, touching, quirky CC moments. I love that this book and Gingerbread are both about identity and finding one's self, but CC is a real girl who drinks alcohol and occasionally forgets about her boyfriend. It's a realistic story.

Better than the first. Nothing great. A good simple pallet cleanser.

The dialogue felt extremely clunky. Not as good as Gingerbread

Oh, how I love Cyd. This book is really good, and I love how it delves into Cyd and Shrimp's relationship. They make the best couple. Oh, and I really liked Helen and Autumn. Great supporting characters are always the best. One of my favorite series. 4 stars.

Not my typical read but someone made me do it, it was OK can't complain. More like a teenager wanting attention and being a teenager.
