So while the words are still fresh, I'll write this review.

There is something that always intrigues me about how fantasy and real-life blend in to form one coherent story without taking too much of a turn into one or the other. Not many people can do it, especially not long as this book is. But never does it turn into too much of one or too much of another. The prose, it's addictive, it's unique and with a twist of real-life-been-there-oh-fuck-I-know-this-feel emotion in it.

The characters are slight cardboard cutouts but what is done with them throughout the books is anything but, they are expanded on they are given life, fantastical creations as well as their own thoughts.

The one thing that really got me was the drugs, it's a road I've experienced and seen one too many times, and to me it was done right. most writers tack it on as an afterthought to make their character more "hard" or some shit, here it's actually part of the characters and the environment.

I know there's a lot of underlying messages but I honestly think a lot of that went over my head, perhaps a second read through will fix that. Either way I know this isn't much a review more of a ramble, but it's a wonderful book unique in its presentation with an imaginative as well as realistic tale to tell. read it, like it, read it again and search for those underlying messages. that's what I plan to do at least.
