I started reading this series a few years back when I came across the audio for Dexter in the Dark and really enjoyed the narration by the author. So I decided to start over and listen to all of them. It's a special thing to be able to find an author who has a skill for narrating his own work.

Firstly, it's not enough to have your main character repeatedly tell us how cool, calculating and intelligent he is without actually showing the character embodying those traits. Secondly, the idea that there are enough other serial killers to satisfy a serial killer who only kills serial killers (got that?) beggars belief. As does the ending to this book, which is too, too ridiculous.

i really really love the writing style in this book. It feels to me like i am actually in Dexter's head, as if i am his own monologue voice.
But since i first saw the tv show, or specifically season one, i skimmed through at least six chapters, because i just knew already.
Still very enjoyable and lived up to what i was expecting.
