I quite like both the main characters, but I wasn't obsessed with their dynamic. There wasn't the kind of tension I want in a romance. I also found Samantha's grandfather oddly unlikeable, although I can't put my finger on why.

The attached novella The Suitor lacked all appeal to me. It was predictable, unexciting, and the young age Philippa was when they met makes their age gap (unremarkable in the genre) especially unsettling.

I love this series! All of the heroes in this series are disabled veterans of the Napoleonic Wars, and I just love them.

Cute story, but I got kind of bored part way through, so this took me a while to finish.

Many many of Balogh's tropes, I'm thinking that I need to take a break from this series for a bit - I did like the section in Wales and the character of her grandfather -it almost felt like a new book.

Another book in this series I know I read, but don't seem to have written up a review of at the time. I remember liking this one more than book 2, although I can't remember the specific reasons why...
