I am weak both towards Eloisa James' talent to bring together two people with very interesting personalities and fairy tales retellings with incredible romance in it.

i mean???? come on. this was so charming and witty and unexpected (which is a feat considering it's a retelling of a much beloved fairytale). it had me by the throat until the very end. i loved loved loved how unique each character was, how completely flawed. eloisa james is adept at creating these quirky, perfect little found families and this was no exception. highly recommend.

BatB inspired - Beauty marries the Beast for her reputation (and hopes to avoid sex since he's 'impotent'). Oh, how I adored the cranky, brilliant, House-esque asshole that is Piers. He's so snarkily hilarious, and when he finally fell, he fell *so hard*. Linnet is his match in every way, she's beautiful, witty, sarcastic and dishes it back to him in equal measures. I simply loved them together - the banter, the slow building of trust, the eventual love and passion between them.

Their times in Pier's sea pool are fun, and I really liked that there's a real friendship between them. But the sudden descent into angst felt just a bit off, and there are some painful, emotional moments.
And Pier's dick move was ugh. The conflict also felt slightly dragged out, and I really needed more reunion s̶e̶x̶ times
. But I still had a lot of fun with this!

Audio- wonderful tale of love lust and anger. The beast is a young Doctor with daddy issues and a physical injury that left him with a bad leg. He roars around yelling at all and happy with none. The beauty is of course a beauty that was used for her looks and tossed out of the Ton because of pregnancy rumors. She is shipped off the the beast in an arranged marriage to give him an heir and her a husband to save her from ruin.
Their tale is filled with anger, snarky humor, lust and stubbornness. They are beautiful together, even at the worst. The supporting characters fit well and bring laughter to the right moments. We all know the tale of beauty and the beast, and still there are many surprises here. Not to be missed for a romantic, historical fairy tale.

Cute unique retelling of Beauty and the Beast!

I particularly liked the beast and his backstory.

This book had everything. The relationship started out as friends then disaster struck and I was worried if i’d enjoy it, but it tested them in the best way. This is my first Eloisa James book and i’m glad I read it. Also these characters had some of the best chemistry I have ever seen!
