An absolute must-read for lovers of All American Boys and The Hate U Give, but this book is written appropriate for middle grades.

Wow. What a truly amazing, thoughtful, and heartbreaking story. This book deals with racism and prejudice in ways that are perfectly geared toward a younger audience without dumbing it down for them. Truly an extraordinary read.
This was a beautiful, quick read. I loved the healing tone of it, filled with love & not hatred: it was honest & heartbreaking & important. Certainly a book worth your time & attention. Let us continue to grow toward goodness, compassion & equality for the sake of those who have suffered for our lack
Short. Powerful. A middle school must that all ages benefit from.
I have problems with part of the end for being unrealistic, but hope that section shows people how it should be and pushes them to work to make it reality.

It’s hard for me to finish reading audiobooks
I’m not really one to pick up a book based on a true story however, this book had me hooked from the synopsis.
It compels the reader to bring up prejudice in society and I felt this book did just that!
The fact that Jerome was just a normal kid, nothing exceptional makes it easier for other kids to relate to it and that this is what many people must face.
I thoroughly enjoyed the changing of views from before (life), and after (death) and seeing other people such as Emmit Till emphasising the impact.
