Fictional story with low fantasy elements because of the ghosts.

I loved this book! It’s very powerful and impactful story, and is one you can’t really put down. It’s kind of a short read, and is made so even a younger audience can understand what’s going on.

Read ut for school and had questions that weren't deep at all. School made it worse. Would've been better if I read by choice for fun, and not in school with no choice.

3 stars for story, 5 stars for important educational information. Definitely handing this one to my son for discussion.

Book #36/100. A very important book that teaches children and adults alike that all lives matter regardless of their color or ethnicity. The important thing is that these are humans who have the right to live in peace. Racism and prejudice are the themes of the book and I think it is a very important topic to be discussed in schools and in homes alike. You have to teach your children that discrimination is wrong and that it impacts the lives of so many families.

Rhodes is truly a talented storyteller. Her words unfold with such heartfelt compassion; presenting such a complicated violent reality with respect, mindfulness, forgiveness, and ultimately – hope.

“Bear witness. My tale is told.
Wake. Only the living can make the world better.
Live and make it better. Don’t let me
(Or anyone else)
Tell this tale again.”
