Parts of this book were quite entertaining, but in the end I felt it petered out from lack of larger context. Plus the main character of Fitz, in the tradition of many similar sad sacks portrayed by John Updike and Anne Tyler, was hard to like.

Slow paced historical novel revolving around the creation of and scientific research into LSD in the 60s. This is probably a good representation of everything that was wrong with men in the 20th century. Scientific research turns into an all encompassing quest to have as much sex as possible. Interesting but not a piece of history I'll ever need to explore again.

Wow...nach der Hälfte habe ich aufgegeben. Man möchte meinen es ist nicht möglich ein so langweiliges Buch über ein Thema wie LSD zu schreiben. TC Boyle schafft es trotzdem.
Dabei ist der Inhalt gar nicht mal so fad, das Buch kommt aber einfach nicht vom Fleck und Seite um Seite war eine Qual. Schade.
