Wow! So powerful. It did read more like a novel (a based on a true story) vs the tattooist which was very biographical. I loved seeing the strength in Cilka that we saw in Tattooist, although the guilt she felt over her position in Auschwitz killed me. She was so young, was raped and was doing what she could to survive and she gets sent off to a work camp. I truly loved her happily ever after, getting released early and having Alexandr be on the same train. So good.

a heartbreaking story. i looked forward to hearing more about Cilka ever since her appearance in the previous novel. it is a beyond heartbreaking read with glimmers of light in hope in the most degrading of circumstances

⭐️4.8⭐️ this story breaks my heart but with such an amazing ending. I love learning about times in history that are unimaginable to think about, especially from WW2
