Cilka lived. She lived through the concentration camp, she lived through the gulag and she lived an 'ordinary' life. Captured here by Heather Morris are both the well researched parts of Cilka's life and some cleverly constructed fictional parts to place a very accessible story in the hands and minds of the many.
Stories like this are important for our humanity - to be reminded of the best and worst we can all do as well as the idea that for the majority of her life Cilka was an 'ordinary' woman who had experienced the extraordinary and lived.
