Ugh! I can see why people only want to start series that are complete. I’m devastated. Kristen, why do you have to mess with my emotions like this? I suppose it makes for a great story. I can’t wait to see how this enemies-to-lovers story unfolds. Until then, I’ll just be crying in a corner, practicing spells to stitch my heart back together.

A slow burn enemies to lovers back to enemies again. But with a twist.

When I read the description for this book I certainly had a preconceived notion of how it was gonna play out. I knew since it was Crimson Moth Book 1 I wasn’t going to get a resolution. But it takes its slow burn enemies to lovers tropes and turns it on its head. It’s honestly brilliant. I cannot wait for the next one.
Content wise, this books falls between YA and Adult. There are adult themes with implied happenings but nothing in detail. I will say the way the magic system works could be seen self harm so proceed with caution. I’ll put more specifics below.
Overall I absolutely loved this book.

MY NEW ALL TIME FAVOURITE BOOK

I have not devoured a book like that in SO long; I would look up and realise hours have passed. It was brilliantly fast-paced yet layered with complex emotions, character arcs and THAT FUCKING ENDING!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE, it could have been 1000000 pages more and i would still have wanted more.

I loved this book in a way I haven’t loved a new fantasy series in awhile. There was no world building dump, it happened throughout the book in a way that made sense. It was an actual slow burn enemies to lovers. The magic system was complex but simple enough to understand. I found the plot developed enough that I was picking up clues of what might end up happening, but it wasn’t predictable.
There is no perfect character. They’re all flawed.
I just really, really, really enjoyed this book and I’m already itching for the next one!

The Crimson Moth is set up to be one of 2024’s most anticipated and popular reads. And after reading it for myself, I can understand why.

I was incredibly fortunate to receive The Crimson Moth as a reviewer, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to read and review. My review is based on my own honest opinions. I have rated this book a 4 star, due to the fact that when I started this book and I nearly put it down again and did not continue reading. I was both sucked in from the start, and turned off due to the love triangle trope (this is not my favourite). However, I continued to read it, mostly out of obligation, but I am so, so glad I did.

From about 50% in I was completely hooked. I couldn’t put it down. Gideon’s story broke my heart, I wanted to reach through the pages and give him a hug. I’m a big fan of Gideon, I have a thing for the “villains” in the story. Enemies to lovers to enemies again. Top tier trope.

We follow Rune, our FMC who spends her days living as a vapid socialite, but her nights as a vigilante witch rescuer. Rune, her long time best friend Alex, and her friend Verity conspire to rescue witches from the clutches of the Blood Guard, breaking them from jail and saving them from the purging, and tracking them down to ship to another continent before they’re found. Rune, despite being hidden in plain sight for over 2 years, is hunted by the blood guards best witch hunter. But what happens when witch and witch hunter fall in love? Heartbreak. Betrayal. A serious moral confusion of what is right and wrong. The ending of this book had me in tears. I did NOT see the plot twist coming. I thought i had it figured out, I was so very wrong.

I am so excited for this book to release and for others to experience The Crimson Moth.

This was my Book of the Month pick for February and I truly enjoyed this book. I was able to finish it all in one sitting. The style of writing was solid and I can’t wait for the next book to come out already. I liked the interesting magic system and liked the characters. However, this book is marketed as Teen/Young Adult and I’d say that that’s a bit of a reach. There are scenes with nudity and sex, as well as descriptions of murders, so despite the young age of the character(s) I’d hesitate to recommend this book to anyone under 18. I’m not saying I wouldn’t have read this book in high school, but there should probably be better content warnings.

Again, I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for more books in the series. I will be checking out the other books by this author as well!

This book is kind of a mess and I have so many questions (worldbuilding? character motivation? we don’t know her) but it was easy to read and I never hated it so I guess I’ll read the second one lol

Also naming two of your characters Gideon and Harrow should be illegal why did she do that?? To torment me????
