Pirates, mysterious lobster monsters, Atlantis and a teapot sous chef--what more could you want? A very cool book, although I find Walker a little annoying.
Another "meh" book. The plot was confusing and seemed unnecessary. I didn't really like the artwork either except for the Where's Waldo type of page.
I think I've exhausted myself on graphic novel overload. Too much of a good thing, right? Duly noted.

I hesitate to give this one 4 stars because it had some pretty severe inconsistencies, but the story had some depth and the characters were well-done and the art was fun to look at. Plus, there are sailboats and mer-witches, so all in all it was a satisfying read.
There's a little Tintin here. A little Pirates of the Caribbean. A lot Aaron Renier. And it reads like a J. Although the sea-witches are very creepy. Very. Creepy. But beyond that, the characters don't have as much punch as I would like. The pirates aren't very well delineated, ages are hard to guess. But Renier's illustrations have a definite charm. This didn't have the quirk of [b:Spiral Bound|899138|Spiral-Bound|Aaron Renier|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1179287069s/899138.jpg|884324], and I'm bummed that this is slated to be a series when that was not. But this wasn't bad for what it is.
Fun and would have been 4 stars but for catching me in a mood of grouchiness re standalone tales v. serie, esp. in post-Rowling kidlit.
So so so bad. Don’t pick it up! I read it for 30 minutes and it was a complete waste of my time. The plot was so all over the place, and I had 0 investment in anything before the action started happening. HARD PASS!

I love nearly all the art in this book, but some of the writing is a little off. Worth it for the giant nose-pierced woman-headed shrimp though.
Just not my cup of tea. This is a rip-roaring piratical fantasy adventure story, for sure. The art just wasn't my style. And there was just a lot going on. I'd try this one on fans of adventure graphic novels or pirate stories.
This was actually my second time reading it. I can't believe I forgot to rate after the first read! It was amazing!
