Plot – 5 out of 5 stars
This is one of my favorite finales of all time. It was entertaining, action packed and intense. There were so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. It had the romance that I wanted, the friendships that I wanted, the family relationships that I wanted but most of all, it was emotional and it showed a side of the characters that I wasn’t expecting but that I loved all the same.
Writing Style – 4 out of 5 stars
I am a fan of Ally’s writing style since it’s simple, really easy to read and still manages to keep you guessing as the story goes on. There’s a kind of weaving storyline with lots of different point of views that have limited perspectives to the story and help keep the reader engaged. It’s funny, detailed and descriptive and helps fly through the books.
Characters – 4 out of 5 stars
These characters managed to worm their way into my heart little by little though I still love the Gallagher Girls more. We get to see a more emotional side of Kat in this book. She’s usually very together and centered, at least on the outside. But the plot of this book and the things that are affecting Hale really scare her and she feels vulnerable when dealing with his emotions and change in attitude. However, she’s determined to help him. She’s sweet but cocky and smart at the same time and she got the job done. Hale had me almost weeping in this book. Poor guy has a really tough family life and this book showed us that side of him more. He’s angry, lost and sad. He’s vulnerable and hurt and starts to push away the people that love him because of that. Yet he’s determined to get to the bottom of what’s going on with the business his famly owns. One of my favorite parts of this book is the fact that Kat’s family all come together. I’ve always wanted to know more about them and it was awesome to finally have that happen. I loved it!
Emotionally
The plot is emotional. Things seem to be back to relatively normal for Kat when Hale’s grandmother dies and leaves him the family million dollar business. But Kat has a feeling that things aren’t right and after being approached by some people who believe the same, she starts to investigate. These books generally have a specific con or heist to pull off that spans the entire book and I really enjoyed that this one was a lot more personal, they are working to uncover a plot to help their friend instead of just another regular job. The differences between the types of jobs is clear and obvious, a lot more of family came in to help and everyone was a lot more emotionally invested. It also made me care more about the characters and it gave a deeper look into their relationships with each other. It had the common fast paced action with the lighthearted funny moments that make this series great, but with that more intense and caring edge that made this book so much more impactful when reading. It was nice to finally meet more of Kat’s family. We’ve been hearing about this huge group for awhile, even some of the main players and they finally showed up on page! This series has the ability to get me on my toes with so many of the twists and turns. I never really know how things are going to get resolved. I honestly thought things were hopeless in this one but it’s totally mindblowing to see how they always manage to pull everything off. I’ve put this series as finished but the author has said that she hasn’t put the possibility of a fourth book out and I would love to read more about this crazy team!
I am officially in love with Kat. She’s so loyal to her family and to Hale. Their friendship and relationship is so sweet and genuine. It grew really organically and this book is kind of the culmination of that. Kat has personally grown so much from the first book. She is so much more mature and conscious of herself and what she values in life. She’s grown, she’s fierce and she’s smart. I love how she is with her family and her friends, she’ll do anything for them and it definitely showed in this book. I definitely grew to love her slowly since she has a kind of cold personality.
Hale is one of my favorite characters from this series. He came in super charming and funny but throughout the series we get to know him deeper and more intensely. He’s a very complex character and I liked that he was more emotional in this book. He let his guard down and it showed a different side to him but he still remained his charming self. I usually talk about the rest of the side characters here, but this book in particular was more singular in its character development. So while all the side characters showed up, we didn’t really learn anything new about them. I would love to have more books about this cast though.
Overall, this is one of my favorite series finales. The plot was fun and entertaining while keeping it’s action packed rhythm. It had a more emotional element which I enjoyed reading about and was about the group of characters coming together for one of their own. This cast of characters is really fun and unique and I hope that we get more books about them in the future.

This is not great lit, just fun, clean teen entertainment. I always enjoy a quick visit to an Ally Carter series.

Ally Carter writes the some of the cutest literature. Don't take that the wrong way, it's a compliment. If you need something light-hearted and simple to read curled up somewhere on a rainy day, Ally Carter is your way to go. I'm going to say her Gallagher Girls series didn't start of that well, but it's definitely much better in the later books. However, Heist Society is good throughout the series.
The plots are very simple; there's a bad guy, then Kat's adorable family gets involved. They pull the biggest con ever attempted, and they win YAY. It's very suitable for younger kids, (except for when Hale gets drunk). But even then, it's written for a more juvenile audience. If you're looking for a complex. emotional plot, with twists and turns this is not it. BUT, it's still so, so enjoyable. It's fun and adventurous. The names of some of the Heist capers are ridiculous (ex. Three Blind Mice, the Anastasia, Cat in the Cradle, Count of Monte Cristo). It's so much fun imagining all the different cons those could possible refer to!
The characters are definitely one of the best aspects of this book. Kat, Hale, Uncle Eddie, Bobby, Gabrielle (who I really love), Angus, Hamish, Simon, Silas Foster, Marcus, Marianne. They're all fantastic and whimsical and hilarious and very, very lovable. And the bad guys are fun to hate too! Hale's entire family is horrible, Garrett was despicable. But it was all so lighthearted. Although, there was a scare towards the end, there is nothing awful that happens in these books. They'll just make you plain old laugh in amusement.
The relationships are beautiful. Kat and Hale go through some bumps, but they still love each other. Kat and her Uncle Eddie are always there for each other. Kat and Gabrielle...I adore them and their little cousin bickering. The characters never let each other down though, they are loyal to the end. In these books, family is everything, and it just adds a bright spot to your day.
Overall, these books are simple, delightful, and heartwarming. It's just a pleasure to read, and will take your mind off your problems.

I can't say this was my favorite of the series, but that doesn't mean it was bad. It offered a more person and inside look at Kat and her relationships. Looking back at my review of Uncommon Criminals, that's what I wanted -- to see her develop. I loved reading about her relationships with every member of her family, especially Uncle Eddie. This book had a great amount of Hale, and we got to see his flaws and how he coped with that.
If you like action, this book didn't really have a lot. It had a clever plot that made you think and wonder who did what, but there weren't any high speed chases. Whereas Uncommon Criminals made me confused more often than not, this one was easy to keep up with.
I really hope there's another book. This series is one of the best!
