β Enemies to lovers
β Black romance
β Cinnamon roll hero
π Black MMCs
π Disability rep (amputee)
π Mental health rep (PTSD)
Uggggggh I loved this so much π Yet another enemies to lovers, that's fairly light on the enemies, huge on the lovers, with witty and snarky banter which just soothed the soul.
Reese and Jay just made the perfect pairing. Just enough opposites in personality to balance one another out, but still manage to be perfect for one another.
A huge part of my love for this came from the disability representation. Jason is an army vet who lost his leg and has a prosthetic. At no point in the book does the heroine view this in a pitying light, it's openly discussed and embraced as part of the character. With Reese, she has PTSD from the loss of her father, but it's not a defining characteristic, where trauma is used as a whole backstory and damages her relationship.
Neither character relies on self sabotaging behaviours and is honest and open about who they are as people and just worked so well together.
I swear, I could've read about these two for another 200 pages.
