Firstly, I LOVED the narrators for this audiobook, they were fantastic.I will absolutely eat up any book that Adenrele Ojo narrates. This was sweet and quick and was the perfect palate cleanser between two quite intense books that I have been reading. I thought their relationship was sweet, their family relationships were moving and special and I won’t lie, I loved all the drama.
I do think this could have been slightly longer because it moved very fast and Reese and Jason gave me whiplash with their banter and romance at some points. I think if it had been a little longer and they had let the tension build a little more then I would have rated it higher.
I would recommend it if you love a strong, slightly prickly FMC, a little bit of academia and genuine, sweet family connections.

I can speak for the amputee rep, but it seemed well done to me. The trauma from the fmc's father's death was also handled well in my opinion.
Also, I know this book is a bit older, but I did not like some of the comments and thoughts the fmc in particular had that just perpetuate toxic masculinity, like when she said her ex was weak for not acting all tough or looking like he could cry. I get that this was probably part of the author making sure we disliked her ex, but we also disliked him for his actions, there was no need to make him unlikeable by insinuating he was not "man enough." The same thing happened with her friend who she slut shamed because she had slept with a lot of guys. We could judge her as a bad person without the slut shamming and the implication that her sleeping around made her "dirty."
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was pretty good.

Uggggggh I loved this so much 😭 Yet another enemies to lovers, that's fairly light on the enemies, huge on the lovers, with witty and snarky banter which just soothed the soul.
Reese and Jay just made the perfect pairing. Just enough opposites in personality to balance one another out, but still manage to be perfect for one another.
A huge part of my love for this came from the disability representation. Jason is an army vet who lost his leg and has a prosthetic. At no point in the book does the heroine view this in a pitying light, it's openly discussed and embraced as part of the character. With Reese, she has PTSD from the loss of her father, but it's not a defining characteristic, where trauma is used as a whole backstory and damages her relationship.
Neither character relies on self sabotaging behaviours and is honest and open about who they are as people and just worked so well together.
I swear, I could've read about these two for another 200 pages.

I really enjoyed this book! This is one of the first adult romances I've read, and I definitely want to read more by this author. Reese and Jason immediately get off on the wrong foot, but the author really showed the development of their character development so well I couldn't put the book down. I think she did a great job in showing their sexual and emotional chemistry in the book. The two characters really get to know each other, including a lot of trauma the two of faced and I really appreciated how the author made the characters feel so real. The end had a little bit of a time skip that felt like it came a little out of nowhere, and I found it a little unrealistic that Jason was making such big decisions with a relationship that was only a few months old. I think if the time skip was like a year, I would have understood it a bit more, but that aspect felt a bit like rushing the relationship. Though, overall, this was an amazing book! I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
