Was surprised with the last 25%. But it made sense. I loved that the girls actually made mistakes like a kid their age does. Very important commentary on so many aspects of culture, family, and friendship.

Loved this, review to come!

This was a very cute middle grade graphic novel! As of late I’m just picking up any graphic novel that has sounded interesting, and have enjoyed most of them, and this is no exception. I really enjoyed this authors other book [b: The Prince and the Dressmaker|34506912|The Prince and the Dressmaker|Jen Wang|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1494400495l/34506912._SX50_.jpg|46116413] and I was super excited to try out her other stuff. This was very cute, and had a few important messages for younger readers, totally recommend

An overall good middle grade graphic novel with a very sweet message about being kind. It does have what I would consider a rather wild zag towards the end of the book that I just was not expecting, but it's still a sweet read nonetheless.

In effort to broaden my reading horizons this year, I've decided to try a few more graphic novels. This one was the first and it was SO cute! I like the illustration style and I also liked the story. The characters felt (shockingly) well developed for a story told partially through images. I wasn't sure where the story was going at first and was actually caught off-guard several times, which made it all the more interesting!

SpoilerThere's a few little lessons to be learned from this story. I adored Christine giving Moon a chance despite having heard bad things about her beforehand. Watching their friendship blossom was endearing because they were so different but each had something to learn from the other. I was also glad to see Christine's dad come around at the end of the book, realizing that Christine needs to develop as her own person and be allowed more freedom.
