In Stargazing, Jen Wang has created a graphic novel about two young girls who become friends -- one who is growing up in a strict Asian household, the other who is an artsy Buddhist and daughter of a single mom.

The illustrations are reminiscent of Sunday comics in their style - inviting and accessible. The story itself is good, though a little choppy. Still, this is a good read for middle grade readers up through adults.

Also cute! First Second has been KILLING IT with the Graphic Novel publishing, and the newest one from Jen Wang is no exception. I absolutely adored The Prince and the Dressmaker, and I was very excited to read this. I was not let down.

Jen Wang creates such sweet graphic novels. Everything about her illustrations and her stories are just the cutest. I loved the Prince and the Dressmaker earlier on this year, and Stargazing is equally cute. It's a story of 2nd or 3rd Asian generation families living in the States, of two girls who are poles apart but live meters away from each other. Their worlds are bought together after a caring act and their friendship blooms with some minor hiccups along the way.

I look forward to the next Jen Wang.
