Slow read

This book had so much potential and then fell very flat. I was intrigued at the beginning but the book dragged on for way too long, especially as it relates to a kidnapping and the narratives were not going anywhere. Even the climax didn’t give any relief of a resolution and the book continued to drag on. The ending was a bit far fetched and had me wondering if the author had a set of suspects and then just picked one as the kidnapper when she had 50 pages left to write. And then, of the two narratives going, one was left hanging. I now know there’s a second book for him but I can’t bring myself to start that any time soon.

I almost gave this one 2 stars. It almost bored me to tears. It just went on and on a very superficial level. It had its moments partway through that were slightly more intriguing, hence the 3 stars. I won’t be reading the second book.

So here’s another thriller from Gilly Macmillan that I was totally sucked into from the jump! I was in shock that this was a debut, I really thought it was so well done! The entire time you are with Rachel, I don’t think I ever doubted her or her “involvement” with Ben’s abduction. I thought she was written so well, you just really felt her pain and frustration! I enjoyed the relationship and growth that her and her ex had. This could have driven them even further apart, but it really was great to see that blame wasn’t assigned and that they could join forces to find their son.
The fact that this is a series and I can find out what happens with Jim and Emily makes me very happy! The underlying therapy bits (it also felt like an internal affairs investigation) makes me want to pick up the next to see if we get a resolution to that!
I am so thankful that William Morrow and NetGalley gifted me this book after publication! Because of them I have another check in the Macmillan may be my favorite thriller author column!

A page turner that I couldnt put it down .. i loved how you could see the mothers point of view and the detective of the case point of view through out the book.. the author made me suspect everyone but not the right person i loved how shocked i was at the time end of the book the characters are well written.

This was a great read!

This is the 200th book I've read this year and all I can say is I wish they'd all been this good! Kept me guessing til the very end! Brilliant! I can't stop saying WOW!!!!!

this was way too long for how little it said and the story ran around in circles too much. however, i enjoyed the procedural aspects because they were very well done. the mystery was not anything mind blowing either. i definitely expected more from this one and it could have delivered a little bit more!

Thank goodness this book is over. I didn't like all the obvious red herrings in the book.

Was hoping for a good suspenseful book but felt it was predictable and mediocre. Sure, there were twists but ones I could mostly see coming. “What She Knew” is a strange title for the book as well- doesn’t seem to connect with the story. Also, the Jim Clemo therapy sessions seem really out of place- probably future books will make them make sense but they added pages to this book that weren’t necessary.
