I feel like this book was for a slightly younger audience, but it was still really good. The ending was not at all what I expected it to be
5/5 Tzizit
I loved it! I learned a lot about Judaism, and loved the voice of Hoodie. A quick read, and one I think a lot of teens would enjoy and relate to.

DNF around page 40 something. The main character is quite young and not really interested in reading more… minor language up til then except for Jesus’ name used in vain at least three time :(
This was a very fast read for me. I read another review that said Hoodie Rosen is kind of like the Jewish version of Holden Caufield from Cather in the Rye. This description is very accurate. The book is written in a very similar way with Hoodie being the narrator and we know everything he is thinking.
I enjoyed much of this book, reading about Jewish things is relatable. I am excited to find out that there are Kosher Starbursts somewhere, I need to find them!
I gave this book three stars, because although I did like it and was entertained, there were things that the characters did or said that really didn't sit well with me. The story also took a darker turn than I was expecting. I understood what message author was trying to get across, and I appreciate how the story ended, but it still left me wanting more.

Warning: hate crimes, death

I think I need to digest this more. It had a lot of good things to say, but I also had to force myself to keep reading it. It just might be a case of almost too on point right now for my brain.
