This adventure path is for Trail of Cthulhu, and focuses on "purist" scenarios. Rather than a two-fisted series of games where boundless evil can be conquered with a little courage and a sawed-off, the stories here do not end well for our heroes.
In a purist game, the heroes solve a mystery and discover that there is infinite evil lurking beneath the surface of our world, but can never hope to defeat it. At best, they can survive the investigation with their minds intact and return to their lives a little bit broken. The fun of a purist game lies in solving the mystery and guiding your character to the edge of sanity as they discover the truth.
I look forward to running a few of these at some point, but in the meantime, it makes for fun inspiration and introduction to the system.
