Quick listen but not earth shattering. A bit of mystery and some surprises.

If you choose to read this book skip ahead to chapter 29 that’s when it finally gets good. If you love a slow burn this book is for you!

The first half of this book war a really wonderful story of journey and loss, but at the half way point (approximately) all the cards are laid bare (so to speak). The ending is obvious and is essentially handed to the reader just in the POV format of the book (IYKYK). All the depth of the characters becomes shallow at an unsatisfactory ending.

The author also seemingly inserts a review of her own book at the dead centre. By using her characters profession as a vehicle to deliver the exact meaning and symbolism within Kwok’s own book. It was off putting, unnecessary, and made me think that the author thought I was too stupid to figure it out.

The story, for me, seemed to drop off from there into a predictable snooze fest.

There is a great twist in this story. There were parts that felt they could have been developed better but in general, the story was very good.

This started slow, but once I realized where it was going, it was great!
