I was expecting the story of how the wardrobe came to be to be a little less random.

It's difficult to review classic literature. What more can be said about books that have already cpatured the hearts of so many? Therefore, I won't attempt to offer anything new. Instead, I offer my gratitude and admiration.
C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia" are incredibly accessible. They are short books, yet they deliver a powerful message. After I finished Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" with my oldest son last month, I looked for a new book to read with him. I picked up "The Magician's Nephew" and my young boys were immediately hooked. It is a perfect children's story, layered with deep meaning. It takes a truly gifted author to deliver meaningful, understandable prose with such clarity and conciseness.
I've always enjoyed the "Chronicles of Narnia," but reading them with my children compounded that love. It is rare for children and adults to enjoy the same media. Literature capable of transcending that divide must be cherished.

Not bad overall. In many way, I think enjoyed the pacing of this book more than that of the second. The world-building was interesting enough.
