It’s crazy so many things happened in her life which I respect but this really just shows how hard it is to balance work and personal life.

The commitment that she has to choose is just both as difficult and in many ways is she lucky and unlucky at the same time.

To be able to have such a great husband that respects the way she thinks but yet unable to have him sustain such sanity is truly saddening that human minds are just as strong as they are weak.

It's hard to say whether I like the book because of Frances or because of Dray's writing. As I knew nothing about Frances Perkins, I found her fascinating. Her accomplishments still affect the US today. However formidable her professional life, her personal life is heart-wrenching.

I always looked up to Frances Perkins before this book due to her being such a trailblazer for women in government but I admire her so much more after this book! Stephanie Dray does an absolutely beautiful job mixing historical fiction with real events in Frances Perkins's life! While I did feel like the book dragged in a few places the short chapters and continued interest in her life kept me going! This is a must read for all historical fiction fans!
