I fell in love with the series at book one when America and Maxon was going through the Selection process. For an add-on series(?), I thought it was pretty amazing. Parts had me guessing what was going to happen next, but when I read "The Heir" I immediately knew that Eadlyn and Erik were going to end up falling in love and I'm glad they did. Throughout the whole series the author has made me feel like I was apart of the characters' fairy tails. She even made me want to have my own fairy tail again.
Actual rating: 3.5 stars, rounded up because the selection series will always be one of my favorites. Spoilers ahead; you have been warned!
The finale of the selection series, I've been waiting for this. After three books (and quite some novellas) I was completely satisfied. Then, suddenly, another two books were added to the series! Of course I had to read them. Though I didn't think "The Heir" was as good as the first three books, I still enjoyed it.
As much is true for this book. I enjoyed it, but it didn't really leave me satisfied. The whole book felt a little too rushed. In the 279 pages of this book we actually see little development, especially in our male leads. Which is too bad because, since I didn't really get to know them, I didn't actually care about them.
Then of course there's the guy she chooses (again, SPOILER ALERT). Against all the odds she picked exactly the guy I thought she was going to pick. The one that wasn't even in the running really. Our lovely translator, Erik/Eikko (I totally ship Eiklyn by the way. Eiklyn is a good couples name for them, don't you think?). They did have me worried around the end of the book, but hey a lot can happen in 7minutes pages, if you know what I mean.
Overall I'm happy with the series as a whole and I'm sure that in the future I will reread all of the books, including these two.

Would love a Novella of their lives after everything. The epilogue wasn’t enough.
A great ending to an amazing series! I loved the development of Eadlyn, she was much more mature than in the previous novel and more likeable thanks to that :)

Like all of the selection novels, this is complete fluff reading, and I absolutely loved it. I hated the main character at first, but watching her grow through her two books was great, and the bachelor-esque plot with a big twist at the end hit me right in the feels.
Oh...My...I can not tell you the crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions Kiera Cass took me on in this series. Now that it is all said and done and I look back, I am SO glad I finally picked up The Selection. I will say that the first three books (America's selection) are the BEST part of the series. I totally binge read them and would probably do so again in the future. However, I was disappointed with the Eadlyn's selection story. The Heir and The Crown have a very different feel than the first three books. Eadlyn is a very different person than America and that is to be expected. I did enjoy watching Eadlyn mature and become her own person. She has a strength that I admire. And I was happy with the final result of her selection, however the story as a whole felt a little too forced. There was a lot of fluff that wasn't wholly necessary. That being said, although I think it would have been better to end the series with The One, it was good to read the continuing stories of so many characters from the original books. I doubt I will read The Heir and The Crown again, but the first three book of The Selection series are among my favorite books I have read this year. Overall, I did not enjoy The Crown...It fell very short of my expectations.
painfully boring.
I really should have stopped at book three.

I really wish I would have stopped reading after book 3.
