I found this finale to just be really boring. Pages and pages of uninteresting dialogue. I did enjoy a few things like how Eady sounded more mature and another spoiler. I also liked the message in the epilogue as well. Otherwise, this book was just a miss. The series should have ended with the third book.

This delivered the ending I was looking for. In the first three, it was always predictable who would marry Maxon. In the Heir, I liked that it was America and Maxon's daughter, but I wasn't a fan of how Eadlyn was portrayed, arrogant and conceited, when I knew the character could be so much more.

In The Crown, Cass made Eadlyn grow up and she really became the character I always knew she could be. I also never knew who she was going to marry, and when she married Erik I was pleasantly surprised.

Great book, overall.

Didnt live up to the original series at all

(lol this review is rly late) I'm just gonna combine my review of [b:The Heir|22918050|The Heir (The Selection, #4)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1422993526s/22918050.jpg|42484814] with this.

I would have preferred if the series had stopped after [b:The One|18635016|The One (The Selection, #3)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1395612906s/18635016.jpg|21587145].

Simply put, The Heir and The Crown were two incredibly disappointing additions to The Selection series. When Cass first announced The Heir's release, I was skeptical even then, because I really enjoyed the first three books and having another one set twenty years later from Eadlyn's point of view didn't seem that exciting. Nevertheless, I got the book on its release date and read it in four hours. I was very let down, not just because of the ending (which I felt was a desperate attempt at a plot revival) but because of the typical and bland romance that had been through the story so far. I didn't feel any chemistry between anyone except Eadlyn and Kile, and even then, there was very little. There wasn't any of the passion that I had come to love from the previous books. The plot was boring and many of the characters were flat. I even felt like America and Maxon had been extremely dulled down, despite the fact that these two weren't about them. The ending of The Heir was, as I stated earlier, a pitiful attempt at a cliffhanger, and I was left for another year, hoping the next (and final) book would be better.

The Crown came out, and I did give it one more star than The Heir. There was still empty romance, and Eadlyn ended up with someone who was portrayed as 30 years old?? (at least, that's the impression I got) Dunno what that was all about, but I didn't enjoy it. It was essentially a copy of The Heir. In its defense, it did wrap up decently, so there weren't any loose ends (that's what earned it one more star). I would just have preferred if the series had stopped after The One. Nothing against you, Cass (i met you in person and almost cried because i was so stoked), but I wish there had been a little - lot - more thought put into these last two books.
