When I'm yearning to read a book about England in the 12th century, this is the series that I turn to every time.

The only Cadfael mystery I solved half-way through the book! Upon re-read: this may be my favorite Cadfael book! It's aptly named!

This has quite a different feel to the other books in the series. Mostly because it is far less centred on Cadfael, and more on other new characters.
I think it's a sign of how many of these books that I've read that I saw the plot twist coming well before it was revealed, though it is highly likely that that was what the author intended.
