One of the things that I really love about this series the further in I get, is Jane's character development. I know some people think she can get too introspective at times, but I personally really like it.

Jane is dealing with a lot of guilt from different events. Some of it is deserved, alot is misplaced. Watching her work her way through it and realise things about herself is very satisfying. Even from book one to now, her growth has been phenomenal. I can't even imagine where she will be by the end of the series!

As usual the plot kept me turning the pages with plenty of action and intrigue to keep me guessing. I also really enjoyed Jane's interactions with others and her found family settling and growing too.

I had planned to work my way through this series in between larger sff books, but that plan has already failed as I've blown through the first seven lol. So I've just accepted that I'm bingeing this series and I'm going to continue enjoying the ride!

Jumped right into the action and didn't really let up at all. I liked it a lot but the twisty plot had my head hurting a little. lol

4.5 stars - some progress is being made! I found the story and action really great. Jane is stepping up and moving past her continuous guilt and her friendships are evolving, including some female friendships yesss. Plus we get to see Angie Baby again - she might be my favorite character besides Jane and Alex.

Rick is a dick.
I'm glad that Molly and crew are back being friends/ family with Jane. Angie isn't going to wait until puberty to need magical instruction. Her parents should be teaching her now.

Skinwalkers, vampires, were-leopards, and...pirates? A relic of Jean Lafitte's gang makes an appearance. Being a pirate, he has nefarious motives. Unfortunately, they involve Jane's best friend, not something he should have done. Pirates zero, Jane Yellowrock one.

I got pulled quickly back into Jane/Beast's story once more, this time with the addition of Big Evan in a desperate quest to find the missing Molly. I tore through this book in two nights and enjoyed the heck out of it. Glad Rick is out of the picture (seriously, Rick, go away), loving Jane's continued connection to Molly's kids and her own "brothers" Eli and the Kid, and eager for the next installment.
