This book was a little cute but ultimately felt too predictable for me. While it aimed for emotional depth, it didn't have the kind of surprise or twist I was hoping for. I was pretty disappointed as everything unfolded exactly as expected. It might resonate more with people who keep revisiting familiar storylines, like rewatching a favourite show knowing every scene. I liked the Portugal references, which were a pleasant nod to my recent trip where we managed to hit many of the mentioned locations. Though, side note: planning is key for places like Pena Palace! I didn't dislike the characters, but I also don't feel like I got to know them. It felt like there was an attempt to incorporate broader political and moral themes, but for me, these didn't land. It wasn't a bad read, but the lack of surprises and character connection made it a bit of a miss.
