The premise sounds amazing, but the book was dreadful. I have no idea if being able to read it in the original French would change the story, but it just had an awful lot of telling and not showing, along with a plot that just jumped around the place

I guess...there's something to be said for a book that gleefully resists any kind of coherent structure? A book which I PROMISE will surprise you many times with its utter insanity, depravity, and whimsy. An offense against...so much. It wasn't the ending I wanted, but I don't know that I've ever encountered a book that cares less about what I might want. I wouldn't call it a "good" book, but it provided much entertainment, and I'm quite certain I will be cursed to remember it until the day I die 🤣

It's honestly on me for thinking this is about 2 lobsters in love not 1 lobster 1 woman. Described sexual desire in that uncanny valley French way that I dislike. Fine read for sure

Driven by the cruel icy waters of the Atlantic from the slightly cooked and bepinked pincers of the unlikely being who awakened her to full womanhood, Angelina survives the wreck of the Titanic only to seek unwholesome, damaging embraces of other crustaceans, and can't stop sniffing her hand with its odor of bayleaves and fish stock. Meanwhile, Lobster searches the sea bed for his lost love. How they are ultimately reunited by their devouring passion in a frothy, erotic leibestod... well, words fail.
