Truly enjoyed! It's been a hit with some of my students so I wanted to read it. It has more sexual content than I anticipated for a YA book.

Not exactly a fun read (had me stressed for most of it) but it did an excellent job of capturing the real complexities of becoming a parent when you’re still a kid.

I overall find Angie Thomas to be a great writer. I liked Concrete Rose, however I felt that the plot meandered while Mav's character developed. In the end it seemed to be a prequel to THUG rather than stand alone, which of course makes sense, but given his backstory in THUG, I wish the plot had covered more of that story.
