Interesting read nonetheless. It's the first work of Leo Tolstoy that I've read and read after Crime and Punishment.

r.i.p ivan ilitch. a story on the isolating nature and creeping horror of sickness, aging and death. probably not the desired intent, but there is somewhere in there a very realistic exposée on the patriarcal ideal, which leads men to turn themselves and the women and children closest to them into deeply lonesome and miserable individuals, especially as their obsession with personal comfort and upkept apparences fails to translate into long standing happiness once faced with their untimely death. a very clear critique of the social system of its characters' time, setting and social class. truly anti-capitalist at its core. fuck nobility. fuck the social elite. fuck conformity. fuck law school. fuck men. and fuck ivan ilitch.

I've seen many people die and this encapsulated those final ravishing moments of fear of illness, bodily burden, and all-encompassing death. 

Perfect to puzzle on while wondering if studying nephro any harder would have made you a better doctor

Tentang kematian dan kehidupan.

Sejujurnya baru kali ini merasa antipati sama karakter utama di buku. Arogan, merasa sebagai pusat dunia bahkan sampai akhir penulis tidak menunjukkan ada nya rasa bersalah di diri ivan. Tapi itu bisa dimengerti karna lebih realistis(?).
