A quick, easy read. I liked the themes of being true to yourself, listening to your instincts, and doing the best thing for those around you. Alli and I are reading Princess Academy together, and I read ahead. I liked Miri's struggle to decide between two good options, and I appreciated the way that the characters in the book were shades of gray in their goodness, and that their hostilities and bitternesses were revealed in backstories.

For whatever reason, I could t get into this the first time. I finished it but I just wasn't phased by it. But it turns out that it's pretty great. I enjoyed it a lot. And now I've read the sequel and LOVED it! Glad that I returned to this one. I probably wouldn't have if I hadn't discovered the amazing Goose Girl story she wrote!

It's soo good that even me, who has a terribly hard time re-reading books, has been capable of reading it twice. :)

I listened to this as an audio book. I would not recommend that particular method....The large cast was quite unusual. But the book was awesome. I'd definitely recommend it. I'll definitely be reading it again. (But READING it. Not any of this audio book business.)

Tenille bought me this book for my birthday. I read it all in one day. I loved it!! Super cute, super fun.

UPDATE: Read it again in August 2019. I couldn't remember a lot of the story, so it was kind of like reading it again. Such a cute book.

A long time ago I was given this book. It was personalized and signed by the author. I tried to read it. I got through the first 2 chapters and forgot about it. I did this several times. I love the author, and wasn't sure why this wasn't working for me. With the sequel coming out this month I decided to try again. Now, I am not sure what my problem was.

It is a sweet coming of age story. I am pretty sure Ms. Hale has a thing for languages (or speak, as it tends to be called), hardly a book she writes goes without the introduction of a new one. This was a different than I expected and definitely not as girly. Interesting that the message I kept getting was that I need to be a mom. Being a mom to my children is important because no one else can do it but me. Weird that I took that away from a book about a girl in her early teens. Definitely worth my time, but I still like Goose Girl better. ;)

The characters are really three dimensional and the story is very cool. The song snippets at the beginning of every chapter are brilliantly written. This is really really good. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
